The OREO Doomsday Vault was inspired by the Global Seed Vault in Svalbard, Norway, a storage facility containing the world’s largest collection of crop diversity, built by scientists to stand the test of time and the challenge of natural or man-made disasters.

Our vault was built in the same archipelago, just 5 miles down the road.

The threat that inspired the OREO Doomsday Vault was asteroid 2018VP1, which was thought it could pass by Earth on November 2nd, a day before the US Presidential Election.

The OREO Doomsday Vault was inspired by the Global Seed Vault in Svalbard, Norway, so its design and location mirrored the original, but at a smaller scale.

Our 2x3x5m bunker was placed in the same permafrost, just 5 miles down the road and it was designed to hold a large stockpile of OREOs, the OREO recipe, and powdered milk
