Background
Boysen, the Philippines’ leading innovative paint brand, created BUG OFF, a special paint with Artilin anti-pest technology. The paint kills disease-causing flies, cockroaches and mosquitoes upon contact.
The brand needed to raise awareness for BUG OFF in point of sale, through a poster campaign that would demonstrate the innovation in a clear yet captivating way.
Describe the creative idea
We created a series of posters that brought to life the idea: Boysen BUG OFF was as effective as carnivorous plants in terms of pest-killing abilities. The posters recreated carnivorous plants made using BUG OFF paint, and were launched to the Filipino public in various Boysen shopping points.
Describe the execution
A Venus Flytrap, a Pitcher Plant, Bromeliad and Bladderworts were recreated using multi-colored splashes of Bug-Off paint, captured using high-powered, high-speed cameras in precise moments and trajectories. The plants were depicted capturing insects such as a fly and a mosquito.
List the results
To create massive awareness for BUG OFF, the posters were placed in Boysen Paints Mix and Match stations where customers order and mix paints. By placing them in point of sale, the visuals heavily influenced shopping behavior as they selected paints to choose for their homes.
Is there any cultural context that would help the jury understand how this work was perceived by people in the country where it ran?
The Philippines continues to record the biggest number of cases of dengue fever globally, a virus carried and spread by mosquitoes. Cases of cholera and typhoid fever, diseases transmitted by flies, are also on the rise.
WIth this effort, we are also raising awareness on the importance of protecting families from disease-causing pests that are prevalent in Filipino homes, now possible through Boysen BUG OFF.
