BriefExplanation
The sequel starts where ‘Faint’ (the original M&Ms Christmas ad) finished 21 years ago. It’s Christmas night, Santa has fainted, Red has fainted and the only person who knows is… Yellow. Yellow tries to save Christmas by delivering the presents himself but in typical Yellow fashion, his good intentions are not enough to overcome his colossal clumsiness. All the presents go to the wrong people and Christmas is almost ruined, but as the world comes out to try to clear up the confusion on Christmas morning, they find the true meaning of Christmas is coming together.
EntrySummary
Since 1996, M&Ms have played the same beloved 15 second spot each Christmas. The spot is called ‘Faint’ and has become a de facto part of the Christmas season much like ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ and ‘Die Hard’. We saw the opportunity to breathe new life into the spot and gain some attention in the crowded Christmas period by finally giving this story an ending. The realization that the familiar ‘Faint’ was just the first act of a much bigger story was a revelation that made the sequel a talking point online and in the news media.
