Background

When it comes to equal opportunities, there are still deep gaps between men and women worldwide. The year of the federal election in Germany once again offers the opportunity to make a difference. Find a strong idea that stands out from the pre-election clutter: To draw attention to the persistent problem and ensure that it gets its place on the political agenda.

Describe the cultural / social / political climate and the significance of the work within this context

In the year of the federal election in Germany we sharpened the senses of how deep the gaps between women and men still are, where they arise and what we can do about them: By making old-familiar, hard facts newly tangible.

Describe the creative idea

We make gender gaps audible and dramatize them with an unheard mechanic. A woman and a man tell us about their lives - simultaneously. They start in unison. But deviations appear soon and get bigger until the biographies drift apart completely – both in content and sound.A reduced staging helps to show the naked truth: Factual and emotional at the same time.

Describe the strategy

Gender inequity is a universal issue. This also very quickly outlines our target group: Everyone. That's why we focused strategically on the election year. We also had to create a high identification potential for everyone, which is why we chose a broad casting and exemplary biographies that offer points of reference for every age and gender.

Describe the execution

In 2021, International Women's Day on March 7 and Equal Pay Day on March 10 fell in the same week: That's why we used that very week for an initial kick-off, so that we could also influence various smaller, local elections. We then finally made the big impact in the period leading up to the Bundestag elections. Here, we primarily used the period in which the parties are no longer allowed to advertise to place our message - on the radio and especially on social media.

Describe the results / impact

We have seen a 150% increase in YouTube views, +800% website visits and even +900% on Instagram. In addition, Germany elected a new female speaker of parliament and the federal election produced a left-progressive result.
