Idea
The biggest challenge technically was figuring out how to pull the entire thing off in camera all in one continuous shot. We had to create nearly 3,000 separate images in less than a month, and figure out how exactly they should all come to life in animation.
There are dozens of different animation techniques featured in the film – from paper folding to paper flipping to paper sliding, timed exposures and blurred frames, optical illusion drawings that can only be seen properly from one camera angle, traditional flipbook style animation, hands holding drawings in mid-air, replacement animation, the list goes on. As we move forward in time and the products become more advanced, so does the animation style. It was grueling and time consuming but necessary to create a compelling piece and to give viewers a new surprise around every corner.
