Describe the creative idea

Constructing a building is ridiculously complicated, requiring the coordination of a diverse network of disparate parts, suppliers, and contractors. Consequently, builders have resorted to thinking about their buildings as a collection of individual parts. In fact, they are so focused on these individual parts that they have become blind to the building going up around them.

Mitsubishi Electric needed to disrupt this building tradition and convince builders to step back and see their building as a cohesive whole. Mitsubishi Electric built the “Tallest Building on the Internet” to demonstrate the power and efficiency of constructing a building from the ground up as one integrated system.

Positioning Mitsubishi Electric as the partner of choice to builders in search of a manufacturer capable of connecting and integrating a building’s key systems.

The Tallest Building on the Internet is an innovative, and interactive digital experience that demonstrates, “Together, we can build better buildings.”

Describe the execution

In order to get builders to think about a whole building, Mitsubishi Electric constructed the “Tallest Building on the Internet,” where each floor of the building represents one of its key building-system technologies.

Designing a building on the internet has its complications. The building had to accurately depict each technology displayed. The Tallest Building on the Internet integrated location-enabled data, construction expertise, and real-time weather data to make sure Mitsubishi Electric technologies were accurately depicted in a visually interesting and innovative way.

The Tallest Building on the Internet used modern building architecture for inspiration in achieving a realistic contemporary design. Each section of the building received its own unique architectural design, weather, and time of day, as well as its own custom interior that highlighted its specific featured building-system technology.

Visitors enter the Tallest Building on the Internet on the ground floor entry level, then scroll up to navigate and interact with the different floors (featuring key building-system technology). Building developers learned firsthand how its innovative approach to a building’s key systems brings the right solutions in a more efficient and profitable way.

Upon entering each floor, visitors are immersed in a system-technology video that brings a specific solution to life and demonstrates its benefits. Visitors then choose to watch testimonial videos, search for specific product information, click links for deeper learning, and interact with a savings calculator that illustrates potential cost savings and converts site visits into sales leads.

While some of the individual technologies are highly rated, overall awareness of the brand as a multi-system-building manufacturer was extremely low. So The Tallest Building on the Internet became a fun, dynamic, engaging, and interactive new way to bring to life the full scope of solutions offered by a technologically advanced, high-quality building expert.
