BriefExplanation
Getting kids to prioritize their health with a radio show sounds quaint at best and stodgy at worst. Yet "Chompers" capitalized on advancements in audio consumption to accomplish that very thing, putting an inventive, kid-friendly spin on an old-school craft. To make episodes as accessible as possible, "Chompers" permeated the streaming audio marketplace to ensure maximum baseline listenability integrating with Amazon's Alexa. Through adventurous stories, fun facts, silly jokes, and original songs, “Chompers” built a rapport with families and helped create tangible lasting benefits: better brushing habits day and night.
In our “Transportation Week Morning Song” episode, we took tooth brushing out to sea with a nautical themed vocabulary lesson. Our host, with help from a merry band of sailors, guided kids on brushing and sang about all the different names for directions and parts of a boat, from port to starboard and bow to stern.

BRUSH!
For basically as long as people have been around, they’ve been hopping in boats to go on adventures. When you’re on a boat, you’re a sailor … and when you’re a sailor, the special words you use to talk about your boat are called “NAUTICAL” terms. Nautical means a word is about sailing … or the sea.
Switch to the other side of the top of your mouth and make sure to brush those front teeth too.
(Instrumental flourish)
(Vamp)
(Flute verse)
If you’re gonna be a sailor
You’ll have to learn some words
We sailors have some special speak
Some terms we just prefer
(Bassoon verse)
Like the bow (that’s the front)
Like the stern (that’s the back)
Like port and then starboard?
They’re the left, and the right
When you face yourself forward.
(Muted trumpet verse)
(this is a long time to go without lyrics but we could do some talking in here that reminds kids how to brush)
(Flute verse)
If we want to turn the ship right
Yo ho! That’s to starboard
And if we go to the left instead,
Yo ho! That’s towards the port
(Concertina and flute in conversation verse)
And the bow -- (is the front)
And the stern -- (is the back)
Is what sailors say instead
The kitchen is the galley.
And the bathroom’s called the head!
And the bow -- is the front
And the stern -- is in the back
Is what sailors say instead
The kitchen is the galley.
And the bathroom’s called the head!
And the bathroom’s called the head!
(Vamp to outro)
Hey, if you’re brushing your teeth in the bathroom, you’re in the head right now!
Thanks for starting your day with Chompers! See you tonight for another song. Until then
