The power in “Cashew” came from pulling on some of the most emotionally wrought storylines in film and literature. The cinematic reunion of a grandfather and grandson, a shared loved of cars, both past and future. Which all just turns out to be the ultimate set up for an epic rug pull.

To make it work it all needed to have that big, cinematic emotional vibe. The nostalgic romance of the opening had to feel almost heavenly and dreamlike but still familiar. And that comes down to putting all the ingredients together ¬– the cinematic language, actors, the location, the house, the music, the sound design. And then when you add it all up and pull the rug out, it’s that much more rewarding and fun.
