For years, the Mexican Red Cross has used coin boxes to get people's donations on the streets
during the Annual Fundraising Drive. Even though Mexicans are eager donors, their donations
remain pretty much the same over the years because of the high inflation rates of the country. So,
how do we raise the bar and make people donate a little more this year?
Implementation
We changed the coin slot of our traditional moneyboxes for a 'bill slot'. This way, we surprised
donors that discovered that they couldn't give a coin but a rolled-up bill instead.
Outcome
With this simple idea, wherever we sneaked in the new moneyboxes, we increased the amounts
collected by 2,000%. This way we proved that Mexicans can be even more generous if we
approach them in innovative ways.
Relevancy
After finding out they had to give a bill instead of a coin, donors felt compelled to do it.
