In Mexico, 600 people are killed each week in accidents related to drunk driving. But being drunk behind the wheel is not the problem, the problem is irresponsible drinking. The main objective was to support the Corona Responsible Consume program.
Execution
Cerveza Corona has created the first device that according to the alcohol rate in the blood, released or not the car keys. We equipped the valet parking employees of the main bars and restaurants with it; when the driver leaves the place, blows into the device to get the result: if the alcohol rate was below the limit, the device release the keys and a discount coupon for your next visit, if your alcohol rate was above the limit, it remains closed with the car keys inside and Corona will provide a Corona driver to take you home safely.
Implementation
Create a different educational experience to probe that is possible to drink and drive responsibly.
Outcome
The project is currently in beta stage and taking 8 of the main bars and restaurant in Mexico City as sample; the results have been favorable:
• 73% of Corona Drivers have been used.
• In business terms: 66% of coupons have been redeemed.
Due to the favorable outcome; the client will launch the next stage on the major cities in Mexico and other countries where Cerveza Corona has presence.
Although we can’t prove it, we are sure that those nights lives were saved.
