Internode is the geekiest internet provider in South Australia. They wanted to create an event that would celebrate all things brainy during their festival season, so we created our Powered by Brains travelling festival.
The event let people get up on stage and wear a helmet that was fitted with an EEG device that read their brainwaves and then fed it into software that transformed it into a unique musical composition that reflected the emotional state of the wearer.
Implementation
Powered by Brains was part of an ongoing brand campaign that positions Internode as the internet provider that’s for the brainy. The event aimed to give existing and potential customers a pure experience of the brands values of progressive technology and fun. The music was a real time interpretation of their mental state, registering emotions such as excitement, calm, anger and focus, then using them to drive chords, percussion and melodies. The helmet was also fitted with cameras that recorded the performance of their unique song and sent it to them directly after they got off stage.
Outcome
Each participant was sent a YouTube video of their performance that they could share online, leading to over 26,000 Facebook interactions and an engagement rate of 8.2%. In 2014, Internode have reported a year-on-year sales increase of 37%.
