BriefExplanation

This radio spot imagines the world of the near future. It's a world that is so highly regulated, legislated and politically correct that doing even the simplest things (which we take for granted today) have become incredibly complicated and devoid of fun. In this execution, a young person on holiday overseas (Spain) attempts to go for a swim, but is subjected to a laborious, overprotective educational process, hosed down for lice and only allowed a brief swim in an embarrassing outfit, under the watchful eyes of a military sniper. The spot concludes with a message from Flight Centre Youth & Adventure, reminding young people to travel now, before it's not fun anymore.

MV: The year is 2028, you're in Spain, and you are going to the beach.

Good news, your application, which you submitted eight months ago, was approved.

But first, a few formalities.

Upon arrival you are ushered into a Beach Preparedness Cubicle for a compulsory public service announcement, warning you against dangerous activities such as, exposure to the sun, which could lead to sun exposure, exposure to public conversation, which could make you feel uncomfortable, volleyball, which is competitive and could therefore make you feel inadequate, and, lastly, frisbee throwing, which of course poses a clear and present risk of decapitation.

You then step forward to receive your complementary high-pressure hose down by the Lice Control Bureau. You can hardly contain your excitement because that means that you, are just a cavity search and a gender neutral latex bodysuit away from the tepid, avocado-green waters of the Atlantic. You can practically taste the ocean.

Finally they call out number 3,492, your number, and you get to wade all the way up to your knees in the shallow waters for exactly 59 seconds - under close supervision of three lifeguards, a registered midwife and a military sniper who has been authorised to use deadly force to stop you from going in any deeper than you're allowed to.

You know, for your own safety.

Oh yes. Surf is up.

The future's coming.

So travel before it's not fun anymore, with Flight Centre Youth & Adventure.
