BriefExplanation

In “An Eye Fit for Liberty,” we meet Dwayne Collins, who’s daughter Liberty was born with a rare eye condition that required her to wear a prosthesis; without it, her head was in danger of collapsing. Dwayne and his wife Ashleigh struggled for years to find a prosthetic eye that didn’t cause Liberty extreme pain. So Dwayne took to YouTube, and found a video from John Pacey-Lowrie, a renowned British ocularist, who detailed his unique process of making prosthetic eyes. Dwayne watched the video on repeat, and with no previous medical experience, was able to craft a more comfortable prosthetic for his daughter. Now, thanks in large part to John’s YouTube videos and mentorship, Dwayne and Ashleigh have opened their own prosthetic eye clinic in Australia to help other children in need.
