BriefExplanation
ClientBriefOrObjective
To be in the rainforest means being engulfed with nonstop noise from every direction. For the indigenous tribes who live there, the sounds of nature and wildlife drown out nearby chainsaws and logging trucks that are destroying their forest. To demonstrate this, we built an immersive, fully-sonic ‘scrolly-telling’ experience using rich film and photography to transport the user into the rainforest. As the user scrolls down, different rainforest sounds fade up and down, eventually unveiling a hidden chainsaw sound lingering underneath. The experience goes on to unpack the way the tribe and NGO collaborate to implement a unique solution to curb illegal logging with technology.
EntrySummary
The Tembé tribe are one of approximately 180 indigenous groups that live in and off the Amazon. The fight to protect their forest from illegal loggers, who make millions selling and distributing trees as timber, is a David vs Goliath battle that has broader implications for the entire planet. Illegal logging and deforestation releases more Co2 than all of transportation - planes train, and cars combined. Deforestation is also the second highest contributor to climate change.
