This spot focuses on Rob, a middle-aged man who uses the Foxtel Go app to watch his favourite show, Girls, on the way to work.

Sadly, the episode he’s watching contains some particularly raunchy scenes – causing his fellow passengers to think the worst of him. By the time he realises his mistake, it’s too late. We’re guided through the action by an all-seeing narrator.

Girls is an HBO show that airs on Foxtel in Australia. It’s known for its honest and frequently graphic depictions of sex. Lena Dunham is the creator, writer and star of the show that Rob is watching on his tablet in the commercial.

We open on a bus full of commuters on their way to work. Camera pushes in on Rob, who’s holding a tablet in front of him.

Through his headphones, we hear the unmistakeable ‘pssssh...ahhh’ of an HBO show.

V/O: What’ve you got there Rob?

Cut to reveal he’s watching HBO’s ‘Girls’.

V/O: Ah Girls. You love that show.

Rob smiles to himself. Lena Dunham converses with a male character on screen.

VO: All those award-winning performances. Lena Dunham’s fearless storytelling.

The scene with Lena and her man friend starts to heat up. Rob looks concerned.

He looks uncomfortably out the window, suddenly very aware of his situation. The characters really start to go for it. We hear an ecstatic moan through Rob’s headphones.

But unfortunately for you Robert, no one else knows that you love it for these very credible and legitimate reasons.

A shifty-eyed Rob desperately tries to turn the volume down. A nearby passenger stares.

V/O: They just see a man,

A young girl sizes Rob up in disgust.

VO: at the wrong end of 40,

Rob gives a nervous smile. Sensing more eyes on him, he turns around...

VO: at 7am,

to reveal a disapproving older couple, also glaring at his secret shame.

VO: with a handful of naughty time.

Defeated, Rob turns back face the camera.
