BriefExplanation
This spot centres around a family who use the Foxtel Go app to distract their young son while out to dinner with friends.
They build a makeshift cinema at the table by propping a smartphone up against a glass of water, then putting on the kid’s favourite Foxtel show Hey Duggee. However, disaster strikes when dad forgets to reinforce the front of the phone. An all-seeing narrator guides us through the action.
EntrySummary
‘Duggee’ is the title character from popular children’s show Hey Duggee, which airs on Foxtel. It’s about a dog who’s a scout leader, teaching his troop a different lesson in each episode.
ScriptInEnglish
We open on a local Chinese restaurant. The sort in every suburb around Australia. We follow a sizzling dish, which is placed on the table of two families out for dinner.
A smartphone is placed in front of the only child at the table, fingers pressing play on an episode of Hey Duggee.
V/O: Ah, the date night decoy. Vintage move.
We see that the phone is being propped up by a glass of water.
V/O: Back support, good.
The kid is totally mesmerised by the phone. Duggee does his thing on screen.
V/O: How’s the front looking?
The phone slips on the tablecloth. The episode continues uninterrupted.
V/O: Ooh. Not so good.
Our kid’s eyes widen. The phone slips again.
V/O: This could be the end for old Duggee.
The phone slides off the glass and hits the table with a thud.
V/O: Aaaaand cue baby.
Hands come back in and prop the phone up, reinforcing the front with a chopstick this time.
V/O: Dad skills. Nice.
The kid looks on, satisfied. We hold on him.
V/O: Stream anytime, anywhere. Even in high chairs.
Foxtel. Make it yours.
