With the rapid progress of economic development in China, fatigued driving becomes a common problem for truck drivers. There are more than 5,000 fatalities in 2016.

Come Home Safely is a nationwide project that use AI to prevent driver fatigue.

It's the latest research result of Baidu AI technology being adopted in the automotive field.

It’s based on deep learning framework and makes full use of multiple core AI technologies such as image recognition, face tracking, speech synthesis and active recommendation.

When fatigue is detected, the system increases the volume of the radio or music.

If fatigue increases, it will activate the alarm and guide the driver to the nearest service station.

In severe cases, the system will assume direct control and park the truck at the roadside.

The project is launched at Baidu World Conference 2017.

It's participated by 8 organizations till date and reported by 36 media outlets, target to benefit 30 million Chinese truck drivers.

Come Home Safely is based on the most cutting-edge anti-fatigue driving system in the world, which is the latest result of Baidu’s AI technology being adopted in the automotive field.

The system is extremely reliable, because it’s based on deep learning framework, and makes full use of multiple core AI technologies such as image recognition, face tracking, speech synthesis and active recommendation. 

The system is extremely precise because it is able to make a final judgment by leveraging multi-layer RNN and CNN modeling with deep integration of multiple data, by integrating information from the steering wheel, pedals, and the environment.

10th August 2017: Anti-fatigue driving system development kicked off.

25th October 2017: First patent granted.

16th November 2017: Baidu launched Come Home Safely project during Baidu World Conference, hosted by CEO Robin Li.

Baidu is China's Google, it is a tech giant that brings together top researchers, scientists, and engineers from around the world to work on fundamental AI research.

In 2017, Baidu facial recognition technology was in 10 Breakthrough Technology ranked by MIT Technology Review.

Baidu launched their autonomous driving platform Apollo in 2017.
