In our region, there are strict rules and regulations against showing or suggesting nudity under any shape or form. So we came up with a creative solution to raise awareness about the sensitive topic of female genital mutilation, without showing or suggesting the shape of female genitals.

Mutilated Words” is a print and poster campaign, using handcrafted Arabic calligraphy and carefully chosen words, mutilated and stitched back together just like the victims of FGM. The words reflected the physical, psychological and social damage of FGM.
