BriefExplanation
How can we create a new symbol of a new Blackpool that will have a guaranteed lifespan of 50 years?
And over that half century it must be maintenance free noting the effects of the weather, the climate, and the stag weekenders makes this one of the harshest places in the British Isles!
ClientBriefOrObjective
Blackpool wanted interactive installations to help regenerate the promenade and refresh perceptions of the city.
Implementation
The world's largest kinetic sculptures, a genuinely innovative response to an 'interactive' brief. Standing as tall as a ten story building, with heads the size of a transit van, the Dune Grass now permanently tower over the promenade at Blackpool. They are a bold and charismatic personification of the city, giant blades of grass blowing in the wind. Interactive with human spirit.
Outcome
Instantly achieved cult status in the city. A living icon.
Their location guarantees an annual audience of over 10m visitors, their compelling personality a symbol of a new Blackpool sparking 1,000s of online conversations.
