CampaignDescription

Although kabuki is considered by many Japanese to be a serious, "classical" form of dramatic art, it was originally a form of popular entertainment. The shows were enjoyed by townspeople of all classes, and the actors were the pop stars of the day, known not only for their singing and dancing skill, but also for their elaborate fashions and bohemian lifestyles. In creating these posters, we sought to reflect this history, and the unconventional, free-spirited origins of Japan's most famous dramatic art form.

Execution

In creating these posters, we sought to reflect kabuki history, and the unconventional, free-spirited origins of Japan's most famous dramatic art form.

Outcome

These posters promoted the Kabuki: Art & Artifacts exhibition in Kyoto and conveyed the essence of Kabuki.

Synopsis

Our brief was to create a series of posters to promote the Kabuki: Art & Artifacts exhibition in Kyoto.
