EntrySummary
The Hands Up binary billboard was part of Twitter’s 2016 OOH campaign. These two images work as a pair – one photo shows what inner city black males encounter from police, and the other photo shows two hands clasping in the air in front of an American flag. Each image is infused with a hashtag symbol and together they evoke the points that divide and unite us in 2016, while also inviting in-depth conversation and participation. For this campaign, Ad Age’s Creativity said Twitter was addressing “the issues dominating the conversation” in 2016 and that the campaign “helps to make the point that the [Twitter] brand is here to keep you posted on the world’s goings-on, as they’re happening.”
