Is there any cultural context that would help the jury understand how this work was perceived by people in the country where it ran?
In Chile, only 6% of women who enter university choose a career in science, a context that responds to a global problem, but which in Chile is exacerbated by the lack of incentives to counteract this, in addition to the cost that is higher education in this country
Why is this work relevant for Pharma Lions?
The lack of female representation in the field of science is a big problem as it reduces the capacity for innovation and protection of women’s health.
An example of this are contraceptive pills, wich have a huge number of side effects. Without going any further, only men participated in its creation.
This is how now, these pills have an enormous number of side effects resulting in a package insert that is even bigger than a newspaper page.
For the launch of our new estrogen-free pill with fewer side effects, in which male and female scientists worked together... we collected hundreds of package inserts
Describe any restrictions or regulations regarding Healthcare/RX/Pharma communications in your country/region including:
In Chile, the purchase of contraceptive pills is free and does not require a medical pre-registration.
Describe the target audience and why your work is relevant to them.
Women in general, but with a strong emphasis on young university students who are pursuing scientific careers, this is because they are mainly the ones who can reduce the gender gap in science in the near future
