We were always told not to judge a book by its cover. But, with the literary market getting back on its feet (according to Nielsen Bookscan, sales in 2018 grew about 5% over the previously year), the new literature pop-stars are not the great classics, with timeless stories and unique narratives. The current Kindle Store best-sellers list is full of erotic romances with appealing covers, an easy target to the average reader. Our objective was to entice a reevaluation of people’s relationship with literature, bringing great works back into the spotlight, while working with a budget of virtually zero dollars. Because of that, we needed a strategy that would be thought-provoking and extremely cost-effective. So we gave good books the covers they needed to compete with the current best sellers, and maybe land a good book on the hands of someone who judged it by the cover.
