CampaignDescription

Corona is a beer that has reached more than 180 countries, pretty much the whole World, because of his unique brew process, and we wanted all Mexicans to knew it. After the discovery of LHS 1140B, we decided to use this news as an excuse to talk about our product, by sending a direct transmission to this exoplanet with our recipe. Being the first brand to get in touch with LHS 1140B. Media covered the event and the message was transmitted also in radio stations, talking not only about the message but also telling the whole country how a Corona is brew and how far it has reached.

Execution

The idea had to be executed with national scientist and experts that could create a transmitter capable to send the message to this planet for real. We chose the time of the transmission, according to the planet position and invited the media to cover our action. In less than 10 days after the discovery of this exoplanet, we managed to create the transmitter and sent the radio frequency with our recipe. This way, Mexicans could know about this action, but more important, how a Corona is brew and how far it has arrived.

Outcome

This direct message to LHS 1140b inhabitants will show its results in 40 years.

Relevancy

On April 19th, the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics announced the discovery of LHS 1140B, an exoplanet which could host life. Corona, the Mexican beer that already conquered the whole planet Earth, decided to conquer this new world, being the first beer over there. We built a transmitter and sent a direct radio frequency to this planet, with the recipe of how to brew a Corona, so the planet inhabitants could make it in their planet. The message will travel for 40 years through the space until it reaches LHS 1140B.

Strategy

We wanted to communicate to all legal young-drinking-age Mexicans, how a Corona was brewed and that the brand has reached more than 180 countries, but we knew that just telling this in an ad wouldn’t be interesting for them. We took advantage of the discovery of a new planet that could host life and decided to contact the Astronomical Institute of the National University of Mexico to create a transmitter and send a radio frequency to this planet. We made a 3 days’ teaser campaign on our Facebook and gather specialized media to say we sent the message, spreading the news of how Corona was conquering a new planet with the same recipe that made it the best Mexican beer in the world.

Synopsis

Corona was looking for a new and creative way to talk about two main things about the product: The brew process and that Corona is the only Mexican beer that has reached more than 180 countries. On April 19th, the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics announced the discovery of LHS 1140B, an exoplanet which could host life. We built a transmitter and sent our recipe to this new world. The message was also transmitted in different radio stations of the country, communicating all Mexicans how the Coronas are brew and that they were now conquering a new planet, after conquering more than 180 countries.
