Cultural / Context information for the jury
Due to the Korean War that began on June 25, 1950, more than around 120,000 fallen heroes remain unrecovered, even after 70 years of time. Only 175 of the heroes were identified and returned to their families.
Although the Ministry of National Defense Republic of Korea (MND) is recovering the remains of the fallen heroes, the number of DNA samples collected from the bereaved families is well below the required threshold to identify the remains, not to mention the lack of attention from the people.
This campaign was launched during the Chuseok holiday. Chuseok is one of the biggest national holidays in the Republic of Korea. It is a period in which a significant proportion of Korean people return to their hometowns to visit their families.
Write a short summary of the ambient work.
During the Chuseok (Korean thanksgiving) holiday, we met with train passengers who were on their way to visit their families, and told them the story of the fallen heroes who were unable to return to their families for more than 70 years.
A homeland-bound train with a 70 year delay was displayed on the screen of the departure board in the Seoul Station waiting area.
Along with an announcement that the train has been delayed for 70 years, we delivered a message that encourages our campaign participation.
We also distributed a campaign ticket during the Chuseok holiday, and the ticket recipients were able to apply for a DNA collection kit through the QR code on the campaign ticket.
