We see an actor play a woman at various Sunday social occasions and duties that she’d rather get out of, all so that she can spend the whole day uninterrupted with her dog.

Sundays used to be a day of rest dedicated to spending time with the ones we love. But recently they’ve become jam packed with social obligations, chores, and other duties.

Dog food brand Cesar wanted to protect Sundays as a day for dog and owner to spend together. A day where nothing else should get in the way of doing stuff with your pet. To help owners achieve this, they hired method actor Mick Diablo to play owners at the stuff they’d rather skip; like distant family meals, fad exercise classes and second cousins’ baby showers. All the kinds of things we feel obliged to go to rather than actually want to go to.

They targeted cinema goers in the run up to the weekend so they’d think about how they would spend their Sundays with their own dogs.

The director had to tell a very complicated story - an actor playing a dog owner at social events and duties that she didn’t want to attend all so that she could spend time with her dog. It had to be told through several very disparate scenes that had to come together and feel like one coherent story, and not just appear as a series of vignettes. Using all the techniques at their disposal the director somehow managed to tell such a complicated story in a simple, understandable, and enjoyable way.
