BriefExplanation
At Johnsonville, their employees are responsible for everything. And this year, that meant coming up with the commercials, too. In this commercial, we open 8-year Johnsonville employee and game-show enthusiast, Cole, being interviewed on camera. As he says, “In my Johnsonville commercial, we open on a game-show set in the ‘70s,” we are transported back to the 1970s, with a 4:3 aspect ratio, soft lens, mustard-colored set and incredibly charming host, “Murphy Charles.” The show, titled Guess the Price of that Food, features three contestants each trying to guess the price of Johnsonville’s smoked sausage. After three insanely high guesses, one contestant is fortunate enough to win a boat filled with sausage.
EntrySummary
Johnsonville Sausage is one of America’s largest sausage companies and has been family owned and operated for more than 70 years. At the center of the Wisconsin-based company is a strong company culture called “The Johnsonville Way.” Established by the owner and chairman, Ralph Stayer, “This philosophy puts the people of the company first, empowering them to have a stake in business.”
This year, Johnsonville took this mindset to the next level and did something only a family-owned company could do: let its employees come up with the commercials. The agency traveled to Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin and interviewed over 150 sausage makers.
