You don’t have to divorce meat and cheese completely, even oat drink carton puppets have the urge now and again. Keep the relationship alive if you have to, but maybe just meet up on weekends?

THE NEW NORM&AL SHOW

TITLE: LET’S FLEX

We see a title ‘THE NEW NORMAL’. An ampersand drops from above on a rod between NORM&Al followed by the word ‘show’ which pops up on a rod from below and now the title reads: THE NEW NORM&AL SHOW.

Norm comes home one day and walks in on Al eating something he shouldn’t be eating in the kitchen…

AL (sings): “I said a meat – ball – meat-meatball,I said I meat…”

NORM: “EHHHHMMMM….. AH!”

AL: “Ohh….”

NORM: “Ehmmmmmm”

AL: “Ughhhhh…”

NORM: “Is that….?”

AL: “I‘ve…”

Al freezes with his fork in mid air, mouth wide open. Norm stares at him. Al is not eating plant-based…he is eating meat.

The meatball on the fork starts to laugh at him. It’s that kind of menacing laugh like Salacious Crumb in Star Wars. Various inanimate objects around the kitchen laugh at Al. Al’s little carton face drops.

AL: “I’m sorry Norm.”

Al feels like he has let Norm down but, Norm isn’t angry or frustrated.

NORM: “Al… It’s ok!”

Everything stops laughing — why isn’t Norm angry?

AL: “What do you mean?”

NORM: “Well, let me put it like this…”

A radio with a face turns itself on and we hear a song.

Norm begins singing:

NORM: “You don’t need to break up with meat forever

Let's flex

It’s alright to sometimes eat cheese whenever

Let's flex

Why not dip into the vegan world some days

Let's flex

Come on and eat the flexitarian way

Let's flex

If you go plant-based I’ll dine with you.

And if you happen to cheat, well that’s cool too, too, too… As long as you just try to do your best

Karma’s gonna do the rest

Let’s flex

‘Cause every step you’re taking big or small

Let’s flex

It sure beats taking zero steps at all.”

AL(unsure): “…Let’s…floss?”

NORM: “Let’s flex, let’s flex again, let’s flex all day

Come on and eat the flexitarian way.”

The meatball continues to laugh at Al before realising he is about to be stabbed with a fork and then starts screaming.
