BriefExplanation

A woman walks into a diner to get a cup of coffee. Not just any woman, heads turn and hearts stop, it’s the Lampton Legend. We cut back and forth between the awestruck looks of the diner patrons, and the epic drive that earned her legendary status. On a snowy day, she turns up Lampton Lane. It’s perilously steep and slick with ice, but she climbs it with ease. She even manoeuvers around a tow truck. Inside the car to her coffee sloshes around in the cup, but doesn’t spill. Back in the diner, coffee in hand, the Lampton Legend makes to leave. Suddenly someone steps out in front of her, but she moves around that obstacle too. Again, the coffee stays safe. It’s a simple story. A woman takes a shortcut that nobody else could, thanks to her Nissan, and becomes a legend in the minds of her peers.

EntrySummary

Driving in Canadian winters can be a perilous task. When the snow and ice hit, it can make certain roads virtually unusable. It’s not at all uncommon to see videos on the nightly news of cars sliding down a steep road, having lost all grip. That’s why we told the story of the Lampton Legend, hyperbolizing a town’s reverence for a woman who was brave enough to conquer a steep street in the middle of the winter, taking the shortcut that couldn’t be taken.

Lampton Legend

Open on a roadside diner. A Qashqai parks out front and the customers quiet as our dramatic movie score kicks in. The driver gets out of the Qashqai and enters the hushed diner, everyone watching her intently.

VO: They call her the Lampton Legend.

From here we cut back and forth from the awestruck faces of the people in the diner as she walks in and orders a cup of coffee, to the legendary drive when she earned their reverence. The epic drive begins with the Legend driving her Qashqai through town during a snowstorm. She’s drinking a cup of coffee.

VO: For taking the shortcut that couldn’t be taken.

Cut to a Lampton street sign. We see the street, steep and covered in snow and ice. But with Nissan Intelligent Mobility, our driver is confident.

VO: They say it was like driving up a luge track.

We follow the Qashqai up the street. Cut close on the tires to see it handling on the icy street.

The Qashqai changes lanes, the Intelligent All Wheel Drive allows her to maneuver around where a tow truck has stopped by the road, near an abandoned car. The tow truck driver gives the Qashqai driver a look.

VO:?But this story had a Hollywood ending.?She conquered the climb…

As it moves around the stopped car, we see her coffee in the cup holder. The liquid sloshes back in forth, but never spills over the side.

VO: …and didn’t spill a drop.

Back to the café. The Legend gets her coffee from the counter. When she goes to find a table, someone steps out of a booth right as she passes. She has to quickly side step the person, and we see that her coffee doesn’t spill. In the front booth at the diner, we see a customer smile knowingly.

VO: Legend.?

Cut to the car cresting the hill triumphantly. Bring up end supers. And cut to end sting.
