BriefWithProjectedOutcomes
Argentina is a country that has shown great openness in the field of gender equality. As everybody knows a women was the last president of the country. Nonetheless it is also unquestionable that discrimination covers many areas of society, culturally relegating men and women to specific jobs.
It is true that the law guarantees access to work, without exclusion of gender, but in practice HHRR departments still continue to hamper the inclusion of women. No Gender Profiles, is a tool that removes gender from the discussion at the time of recruitment and ensures that the potential candidates are selected based on their capacities.
Execution
Linkedin is the social network of professionals and also the best place for companies to find talents.
We developed a Google Chrome plugin that changes the way searches are performed. When it is installed on the computers of the Recruitment Managers, it hides information that reveals the gender of the candidates, such as name and profile photography. In this way, companies are able to find candidates based on their skills, while avoiding gender discrimination.
To launch our initiative and generate buzz, we took advantage of the media coverage displayed at The International Women's Day reaching key Managers from more than 12 large companies who adopted the tool. No Gender Profiles is not only used for their recruitment processes but is also part of their business communication.
Outcome
No Gender Profiles was launched in Argentina on The International Woman´s Day. It is considered as the most widespread initiative to date at local level. Specialized international press, media, blogs and people shared the idea, achieving more than 4,500,000 impressions. In just a few months, people from 12 large companies already use the tool to hire their staff without gender discrimination.
Strategy
Linkedin is the social network where employers and employees converge. Companies usually search for potential candidates within this platform. Therefore we developed a digital tool that changes the information displayed in this network, thus avoiding any possible discrimination. We launched the idea on the International Women’s Day taking advantage of the natural media coverage on this type of initiatives. We created a buzz that rapidly spread among important industries. At present large companies use the tool to hire their employees.
Synopsis
Since 1985 the NGO Feim promotes the rights of women in Argentina. During this time, much progress has been made in gender equality, but conditions are far from ideal. For example, in labor matters, the figures are critical: only 1 out of 4 women get hired and, when they do, their salary represents only 72% of a man’s salary, while performing the same functions.
Although there are laws that guarantee access to work for both sexes, it has been detected that at the time of starting the recruitment process, many women with sufficient capacity to hold the position are discarded by gender, without even analyzing their profiles and/or capacities
It is a paradox that this generation of women who, at present, are more than well prepared to fill in different positions have to struggle their way in into the professional world.
