Describe any restrictions or regulations regarding Health & Wellness communications in your country/region including:

Not applicable.

Health & Wellness work must demonstrate how it meets the criteria 'life-changing creativity'. Why is your work relevant for Health & Wellness?

Despite having one of the highest suicide rates globally, Indians still consider mental health to be taboo. There is a need for positive psychology in the face of this epidemic of anxiety. OMM starts a creative discussion on mental health, aiming to transform the way mental health is looked at.

Cultural/Context information for the jury

Indian schools do not have a mandatory mental health curriculum in place. Class sizes are large and the teacher student ratio of 1:60 does not permit adequate individual attention towards each child. There are less than 10000 therapists to cater to 1.3 billion people. Indian students have to face a lot of competition for a limited number of seats in colleges owing to the huge labour pool present in the country. The constant pressure to perform right from a young age keeps building up, in the absence of regular, healthy discussions on the same. The problems of childhood later extend to adulthood in the form of mental illnesses. Even though, the course of openly talking about mental health issues is a tough one, enabling students to take care of their own well-being can certainly help in combating these issues while also creating a positive platform for discourse in future.

Tell the jury about the art direction.

The kit has holistically been art directed to create a unique visual language around the eye, a reminder to the child keep their eyes open to mental health. Given the messy nature of children, the kit of five tools has been designed in a compact format to fit seamlessly in a box. Universal symbols, identifiable by children have been used throughout the book. Our logo is a face juxtaposed against a book, the universal medium of learning. The eye, positioned in place of the brain, symbolizes an open eye and open mind, essential in attaining mindfulness. The bold, minimal and modern typography and illustration style ties the tools together in harmony. Our colour palette is composed of bright colours to stimulate and appeal to a child’s field of vision. Rich textures using production techniques were developed to drive their natural curiosity, aiming to create a feeling of wonder and interest.
