Synopsis
Sharks are under serious threat from the vast numbers killed each year to make shark fin soup. The way this is done is particularly cruel – their fins are removed while they’re still alive, and the living carcass is thrown back into the sea, to die slowly on the seabed. To raise awareness of this issue, we evoke the world of black and white horror films to show the grim reality of shark-finning. Existing footage is edited in the style of such films; demanding attention, as well as repelling the viewer. Using the traditional ending for such films – the single word ‘Fin’ on screen (‘The End’ in French) – we not only drive home the key word relating to our campaign. We clearly communicate that if the practice continues, it’s the end for sharks. FIN.
