Cultural / Context information for the jury

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications jumped between 21% and 25%. In an instant, American lives had been turned upside down, and they began facing many uncertainties on a daily basis, such as the risk of contracting the virus, loss of job security, anxiety on future finances, and general isolation. Because of this stress, many turned to medications for help, and today we continue to be in lockdown one way or another.

For this reason, it was the perfect time to demonstrate the positive impact pet adoption could have on those affected by those with mental health issues.

It's a win-win. For pets, and for people.

Tell the jury about the typography.

Paws4You wanted to shine a light on the ways pets can help support mental health in the long term, by creating awareness around their positive impact. This inspired the typography work “A Friendly Antidepressant Component,” which uses common components found in antidepressants to beautifully portray the bond between pets and owners.

The typography demonstrates how people can manage their mental health by showing them visually how a pet helps them achieve a positive lifestyle. By stimulating joy and happiness, pets encourage their owners to get out of the house and provide companionship.

Paws4U hopes the campaign will persuade those interested in adopting to reach out to their local shelters and learn about what it takes to adopt a pet and give them a wonderful life, so they can do the same in return.
