BriefExplanation

Relevancy

The creative concept relied heavily on listing Hep C risk factors in someone’s past, and so the film direction needed to evolve to flesh out a compelling narrative. Using transitions from day to night highlighted this journey, and gave us a simple story arc to follow.

Intensifying the risks, shot-by-shot, with detailed macro shots, POV’s and focused sound design, allowed us to make these moments feel more exaggerated and surreal, creating a sense of nostalgia and relevance for the viewer.

Changing the camera style from observational in the beginning, to a looser, more intimate style with a shallower depth of field, gave the feeling that we’re slowly being drawn into his destabilized state of mind. This was amplified by sounds of heartbeats and tinnitus-like whines that pierced through the film’s ambience, gave it an unsettling and dramatic feeling.
