Effectiveness
The Royal British Legion wanted to mark the 100th anniversary of WWI. The war cost the lives of 1,117,077 commonwealth soldiers, we wanted the country to remember every single one of them.
Every Man Remembered
The world’s largest online memorial
Every Man Remembered has the names, ages, and stories from every of the 1.1 million fallen servicemen. First we collected the information from a variety of archives, and found stories of individual soldiers to turn into branded content.
These stories formed the basis of dozens of posts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, press and posters ads. Each ad memorialised real fallen soldiers with famous names. Obituary pieces of social content were created for fallen soldiers named Andy Murray, Tom Jones, Harry Styles, Tom Hardy, Alex Ferguson, Henry Cavill, Rod Stewart, Patrick Stewart, Roger Moore, Gordon Brown and many more.
Implementation
Each social post was sent to the celebrity that shared the fallen soldiers names, and many of them, including Andy Murray and Tom Hardy shared these stories to their social media following, gathering tens of thousands of likes, and driving many thousands to visit the site and create their own piece of content.
Outcome
Without spending a single pound on celebrity endorsement it has become the most successful advertising campaign the Royal British Legion has ever run.
On Facebook and Twitter we tagged the celebrities in obituary posts and these were shared by tens of thousands, including Andy Murray and news media across the globe, including the BBC, Independent, Huffington Post and many more. It even caused panic amongst One Direction and Harry Styles fans.

Relevancy
Every Man Remembered used branded social content to motivate all of Britain to remember the fallen soldiers of WWI. We created social posts and images that shared the real stories from soldiers with famous names that died in the First World War. They encouraged hundreds of thousands of people to visit the website and find soldiers that shared their name. Once you've found a soldier to remember, the website will create a piece of branded content with your name to share on social media.
