Write a short summary of what happens in the film

Set to the hilariously catchy Miles Betterman tune “The Dickhead Song,” the film “It’s Handy to Have a Dick” shows men greeting each other, closing deals, and brokering partnerships of all types, all on the strength of a disturbing handshake. That confidence, that connection, all boils down to one thing: “I trust you because you have dick.”

The handshake plays a major part as it symbolizes a lot of things in the professional world. A deal concluded, trust granted, a contract signed or simply respect. All things harder to reach for women. In the film we see how women are physically incapable of taking part in these handshakes. Indeed, they have no dicks. So no handshakes for them!

Background:

This year Equal Pay Day falls on March 20. As the wage gap is still 22%, women have to work almost three months extra to get paid the same as men do.

Although things are slowly getting better, men are still favored over women at the workplace. They are more easily hired, taken more seriously, obtain better positions or promotions and yes, are even paid more. The fact that women (42%) do much more parttime work than men (12%) makes the problem only bigger.

Please provide any cultural context that would help the jury understand any cultural, national or regional nuances applicable to this work e.g. local legislation, cultural norms, a national holiday or religious festival that may have a particular meaning.

We’ve all heard of the Old Boys Club, a reference to the often unspoken (and too often very much spoken) tendency of men to use and pass on privilege to each other based on gender alone.

Tell the jury anything relevant about the direction. Do not name the director.

It's hard to make light-hearted work about serious topics - there's always the risk that the joke won't land, or be wilfully misinterpreted - but this film pulls it off with aplomb.

It puts into words what usually goes unspoken or is only hinted at: that men tend to trust others in possession of a penis.

The piece opens with two men kneeling on a desk in order to let their dicks - in this case, hands poking out through their trousers - shake hands.

It's a smart choice to let the intimate positioning of green-suited cast members occasionally show, breaking the kayfabe and adding an extra layer of humour to proceedings.

It's a fun and exaggerated way to highlight the real issue of pay inequality, building to a climax.

The director handles the satirical tone well, with the limited script breaking down the problem into one, suitably ridiculous, line.
