Overview

Write a short summary of what happens in the film.

In the latest expression of Coca-Cola’s ‘Real Magic’ platform the idea is set in an art gallery, during the afternoon, when the 1962 ‘Large Coca-Cola’ by Andy Warhol comes to life as the iconic Coca-Cola bottle is passed from one from painting to another as an entire universe magically comes together to deliver an uplift moment to someone who needs it most. Paintings by Turner, Munch, Van Gogh, Hiroshige, and Vermeer as well as paintings by emerging artists from around the world, deliver Coca-Cola’s refreshing uplift to a student who is struggling to sketch and is in need of inspiration.

Background:

Coca-Cola appeals to all ages but with a specific reference to Gen Z.

We all have a slump in the afternoon.

How do we convince our Gen Z target that a chilled Coca-Cola gives them the ultimate refreshing physical and emotional uplift when they are struggling and need it most?

Tell the jury the animation used and summarise any relevant challenges or techniques.

This project involved a large amount of RnD with a mix of artistic disciplines, combining digital sculpting, texturing and character animation with concept art, fx, lighting and compositing, and traditional 2D animation throughout. The challenge was bringing artworks to life while closely matching the varied styles and textures, each requiring a unique creative and technical approach. While some of the scenes were completely built-in CGI, others were handled entirely by 2D artists. Utilising bespoke concept art combined with machine learning models to create layers, which could then be blended together in compositing. Many of the artworks required a mix, in which we created CG characters or scenes, and covered them with thousands of digital paint strokes. These CGI paintings were blended with augmented live-action footage and machine learning-based models, with the original artwork as a guide. These many sources were again seamlessly blended in compositing to create the finished look.

Is there any cultural context that would help the jury understand how this work was perceived by people in the country where it ran?
