We open on a series of portraits. Each mechanic, both male and female, in their own space and surrounded by their world. These are the Performance makers. Different cars are shown in different garages, each being elevated by different performance makers. We see various match cuts to a different mechanic in a different location performing the same action until the happy customer leaves in their car to venture out into the world.

Our aim was to create a classic look, inspired by celluloid. Pushing the grade towards film we added weight to the shadows, making them inky and nudging them into a cooler tone to compliment the warmth in skin. We added subtle texture and simplified the palette; giving the shots more character, helping focus the viewer and adding cohesion between setups. This approach helped us overcome the challenge of the garage being quite cluttered and distracting whilst maintaining the original raw feeling.
