Write a short summary of what happens in the film
Our film is a three-act anthem, following the universal struggle of athletes as they train. From up-and-comers to international superstars, we worked with them to show their authentic and unique workouts. Through it all, the camera stays locked off in profile, highlighting the secure fit of Powerbeats Pro. In the first act, the athletes prepare for the challenges ahead, their movements are quick and deliberate. In act two, the pace quickens, their motion becomes more dynamic and intense, accelerating until finally it’s unsustainable and we reach the breaking point. The action stops. The music slows. Our athletes are beset with pain and exhaustion. But they don't stay down for long. Just as suddenly as it stopped, the action ramps up and into act three: Triumph. With Powerbeats Pro our athletes are unleashed. Motivated by their music, they run faster, work harder and reach the climax of their workouts.
Cultural/Context information for the jury
Working to portray the stories of a variety of internationally recognized athletes in a similar light was a unique challenge. Everything about them is different, from their personalities, to their sports, to their level of fame. Still, we were able to capture and sequence their different struggles in a way that felt cohesive and genuine. Because at the end of the day, these superstars are just as human as the people watching the spot.
Tell the jury anything relevant about the cinematography.
Framing the product the way we did, locked off and in profile, was key to visually communicating the seamless way in which Powerbeats Pro fit, giving them a distraction free workout. But this also presented a variety of restrictions to the composition of each shot. Knowing the desired outcome of the final cut, and what would need to be done in post production to accomplish this, our cinematographer had to work around these restrictions to make sure we had enough room to keep the product centered in frame while still capturing the unique and dynamic motions of each athlete, all without sacrificing the aesthetics of background and setting.
