BriefExplanation

The film opens on a child staring away. The child is positioned on a corner of the set and looks expressionless.

Once the camera starts to track in, we hear the thoughts of the same child but now with an adult voice. The voice tells us about a tragic experience until we realize it’s talking about the day where the father or the mother of the child committed suicide.

On the climax of the narration, the camera tracks in closer and closer to the boys face we slowly see a red rope mark appear around his neck.

The film concludes with the message – Suicide scars your children for life.

EntrySummary

The highest suicide rate in the UK is men in their 40’s.

We were briefed to help this demographic re-consider putting an end to their lives.

Our insight was based on that most of these men are fathers and suicide leaves lifelong traumas on their children.

Our solution was series of harrowing testimonials showcasing children carrying the scars of their parent’s suicide for life.

EMMA ‘ROPE’ SCRIPT

Open on a young boy standing motionless against a grey background, the camera slowly tracks into his emotionless face.

We hear the boys adult voice remembering back:

My dad couldn’t stop sobbing.

Then the policewoman came in to talk to me.

She talked but I couldn’t hear her.

Everything shut down after those first words, ‘we’re very sorry your mums died’

Not even a note.

My world fell apart right there.

And I’ve never really been able to put it back together.

As the camera tracks in closer and closer to the boys face we slowly see a red rope mark appear around his neck.
