BriefExplanation

Clive Owen reprises his role as an enigmatic driver for hire, in this modern homage to the groundbreaking online film series, BMW Films "The Hire." A shadowy bio genetics company is under siege by the FBI for secretly cloning humans, after the controversial disappearance of their chief medical officer. Amidst the chaos, Molgen’s head mercenary Holt (Jon Bernthal) is sneaking out the last living clone, a young woman named Lily (Dakota Fanning) to a mysterious buyer. Holt has hired The Driver (Clive Owen), accompanied by Molgen mercenaries, to deliver Lily to the buyer. The journey takes an unexpected turn and Holt is forced to take matters into his own hands, as The Driver once again demonstrates his mettle and extraordinary driving skills, using the BMW to pull the villain’s helicopter to the ground. The Chief Medical Officer (Vera Farmiga) returns at the end of the film for an unexpected twist.

EntrySummary

Originally released in 2001, BMW Films were a series of eight, unique short online films starring Clive Owen as a mysterious driver for hire, each directed by a who’s who of top film directors. With over one hundred million online views, the films still have a cult following, even fifteen years later. In fact, the premise for BMW Films was “borrowed” by the action film franchise “The Transporter”. BMW Films fans have been patiently waiting for the return of the series and for Owen to reprise his role as The Driver. As a fifteenth anniversary homage, the film includes deliberate nods to details from the previous films for the hardcore fans, including the chasing helicopter and the crashing semi-trailer truck. Yet, the story is deliberately modern.
