The annual release of a new IKEA catalogue is always an event in the world of home decor and renovation. This iconic object has been anticipating people's needs and predicting how life at home changes for over 60 years.

To launch the new 2018 catalogue, IKEA Italy rode the wave of internet's wildest conspiracy theories and created a series of surrealistic, super-social videos that made a shocking announcement: IKEA predicted much more than just styles and trends. So much more.

Everyone knows IKEA. But no one knows the mystery of its catalogues… until today. Because today we'll reveal how they've predicted some of the world's greatest changes.

It was back in 2014 when, before he died, an elderly aerospace engineer revealed the existence of UFOs to the world.

But IKEA already knew.

Let's have a look at the IKEA 2014 catalogue, printed over a year before that shattering announcement. An ordinary cover, you may think… but it isn't.

Look at the shape of the pendant lamp. Does or doesn't it look like an alien spaceship?

And read what's written next to it: JONOSFÄR. Or Ionosphere in English. Which is the layer in the earth's atmosphere you have to pass through to get to our planet from space.

But there's more. Look carefully at this poster. What's so interesting about this huge jar?

And why would someone have it at home? Perhaps because it doesn't represent only a jar… look more closely.

Can you see the reflection? It's the portrait of a grey alien.

You think it stops there? Look at the tiles. They've been carefully positioned to give us a clue. The grout lines between them form mysterious number 51s. And what is the name of the super secret US military base dedicated to UFOs?

That's right, Area 51.

And now look at the pantry: doesn't it seem a bit too well stocked to you? No one would stock up like that..

No one apart from IKEA, where they already knew about the existence of aliens and made preparations for a possible invasion. And what if they knew the date too?

Now turn the page over. You can't help but see two more flying saucers… but there's a third. And underneath there's a clear reference to a cow, one of the animals aliens seem to abduct the most.

And then again, on the right, a huge portrait of a cat.
