BriefExplanation
Drugo is a stop-motion animated video based on a simple, straightforward analogy. The film tells the story of this dragon (analogy with drugs) that was not very harmful at the beginning. But, when the king of a very powerful kingdom starts a war against it, things go out of control. The more they fight against Drugo, the bigger and more powerful it becomes. At the end, we discover that a drug-free world is still impossible, but our position in terms of how we deal with the dragon can be more humane, less hypocritical, and less violent.
Execution
To create a 3-minute stop-motion animated video, we used more than 30,000 photographs, 13 scenarios and over 300 characters, of which around 80 were actually animated (with a structure of articulated joints). The project had collaboration of more than 60 professionals along 7 months in a studio where there were 4 simultaneous sets.
In any part of the World it’s the same: people never want to talk about drugs. So we needed to approach the complex discussion about drugs in a subtle way. Our main message was that a drug-free world is still impossible, but our position in terms of how we deal with drugs can be more humane, less hypocritical, and less violent. Our challenge was to reach a large number of people by employing a universal, easy-to-understand language. So we decided to create a stop-motion animated video based on a simple, straightforward analogy.
