Confused? Let us explain:

In this witty campaign, a voice over makes a series of observations about how confusing the times we live in are. In each spot, the narrator ironically depicts events we can all relate to with a mix of surprise and resignation.

These are confusing times. The perfect time for the Burger King Impossible Whopper®. A Whopper made without beef that tastes just like… a Whopper®.

Translation. Provide a full English translation of any audio.

SFX: Thoughtful piano song

MVO: (delivered in a very thoughtful, austere way.)

These… are confusing times.

Trevor isn’t sure if he’s going through a mid-life crisis, or if he’s just getting caught up in the entire world’s crisis. He’s confused. Should he still get a motorbike?

Simon and Sarah had a baby and now everyone asks when the next one’s coming. Simon and Sarah are confused. What’s wrong with this one?

Alison isn’t sure if she just watched a music video or an adult film with a budget and now, she’s confused.

Karen hates judgy people. Does that make her judgy? Probably. She confused.

These are confusing times. The perfect time… for the Burger King Impossible WHOPPER®.

Tell the jury about the casting process.

We wrote an extensive brief to explore three options. Famous actors and actresses, voiceover talent, and street casting across all races and genders.

The only criterion was that the voice needs to be a truly believable internal dialogue as they muddle through the new world they live in.

We sent the brief to 5 production companies across USA and Europe and received a shortlist of just under a hundred and fifty pilots, with comprehensive treatments.

We whittled that down to two options, one, a well-known actor, and another, an elderly American farmer.

Over two weeks of deliberation, and several extra pilots we decided on the elderly farmer.

Who turned out to be a twenty eight year old Australian living in Canada.

Recording across five different cities in as many time zones for over twelve hours in three separate sessions, we landed on what we felt were the perfect takes.
