The film takes place over one day in Australia. We open in space seeing the sun rise over the country. We then cut between moments of Australian life that all take place over one day. From the seemingly insignificant to the powerfully life defining, each of these scenes embrace a new style to help elevant the emotional weight.
The film then finishes how it started, bookending the film with the sun setting over Australia.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
The Westpac chopper shown towards the end of the ad is one of the most iconic branding assets in Australia. It is worth noting the emotional weight that comes with that chopper as it plays a significant role in life saving missions every year in Australia.
Tell the jury anything relevant about the direction. Do not name the director.
It is also worth noting that four young Australian directors worked together under the mentorship of an award winning Director to bring this film to life. This is well known in Australia through the heavy PR push which was intended for the ad to feel less didactic and parental and more collaborative, raw and approachable.
