Despite a rise in American gun violence and mass shootings, the country’s largest grocery store chain, Kroger, still supports a US law that allows people to openly carry loaded firearms in its stores. (the ‘Open Carry’ law)

“Poodle” highlights Kroger’s existing store policies, comparing what’s not allowed inside its stores against the absurd reality of what is: loaded guns.

These radio ads are all actual calls to real Kroger stores.

Resulted in generating 360,000 petition signatures and a national survey now shows 83% support for Kroger to prohibit guns.

WOMAN: (RECORDED MESSAGE) Thank you for calling your friendly Kroger store.

JAMES: (ON THE PHONE) Thanks for calling Kroger’s, this is James, how can I help you?

CUSTOMER: Hi James, so, I just got a brand new poodle and, uh, I’m wondering if I can bring him into the store with me.

JAMES: A poodle? Yeah, no, we, we do not allow pets in the store.

CUSTOMER: But we just picked him up from animal services and he has separation anxiety-

JAMES: Ma’am, I can’t, it’s like a, it’s a safety issue and then, you know, you allow one, then you allow two, then you allow... then we all of a sudden we have pets all in the store.

CUSTOMER: Don’t you guys let people with loaded assault rifles in? I mean, isn’t that a safety issue too?

JAMES: Well, I mean, it’s... that’s not... an, an animal and that’s, that's-

CUSTOMER: So legally adopted poodles with separation anxiety - no, legally anyone with loaded assault weapons - yes?

JAMES: Ummm... I mean, it’s just um...
