In NZTA’s ‘Rat’s Tale’, we follow our bonafide hero through a series of his wildest adventures and ultimately land with him at his decision not to drive home after drinking one night. The spot sets about grabbing an audience of adrenaline loving bogans by the nuts and revelling in the thrill seeker life by showing just what you might be missing out on if you drink and drive.

Working backwards from a talent our lead actor had – during a quick YouTube search for “Harmonica Jam” whilst editing, we stumbled across a live improvised performance captured at a small music festival by an independent, unsigned busker and performer from Byron Bay, Australia. It was the only music track we ever tried, and a phone call later – the deal was done.
