CampaignDescription

The creative idea behind this project was a form of an "ode to the fans" of artist and producers on this record. There was a common goal to integrate the fans and support teams of the culture, sound, and art and translate it into a physical form. The clip animates stills drawn by fans at an art gallery in LA. Whether people expressed love or hate or neither in their art, it was essential that the participants felt the confidence to create from the heart.

Execution

The video was produced as an experimental art event. It was hosted for a limited time in an art gallery in LA. It required social media to play a large role in getting the word out about this project. We asked people to draw and deface 6000 still frames from a full length music video. After each frame was manipulated, Brewer rephotographed the images and organized the video back into it's proper order. The resulting graffiti-based animation was the final video.

Outcome

The resulting piece was a correlation between the fans and the artists. It was an innovative way to connect art-to-art and deliver it back to the fans. The engagement from enthusiasts of art and music was so strong, thousands of people attended the art event in LA's Fairfax District over the course of 3 days to express themselves in artistic form. To date, Where Are U Now music video has 660million views and counting.

Relevancy

This specific piece showcases a unique dynamic of fan appreciation. The creative idea behind this production was an experimental art event, where fans and enthusiasts were asked to express themselves in art form with no judgement. That art was then reorganized back into the music video creating a piece that connects fan art to the artist.

Strategy

The goal of this project was for people to express themselves against a canvas of Justin Bieber's performance with the intention of being showcased in the music video. The purpose was for people to approach their artist contribution without pretense.

Synopsis

Director team Brewer created a visual that gravitates to today's pop culture and art. This visual is compromised largely of fan generated art taken from sessions at an art gallery. The creative idea behind this project was a form of an "ode to the fans" of artist and producers on this record.
