In this commercial, we adapted Martin Luther King Jr’s iconic “I have a Dream” speech that he made to civil rights supporters in 1963. We changed his words, in a shocking way, and challenged listeners to imagine a world where no-one, not even Martin Luther King Jr, has the guts to take a stand for what is right. In this way, the Nelson Mandela Foundation could appeal to individuals to take responsibility and help realize Mandela’s ideal of a just society.

MARTIN LUTHER KING: I had a dream, but freedom will never ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia, nor any hill or molehill of Mississippi.The life of the Negro is crippled by the chains of discrimination. We will have neither rest, nor tranquility.The truth is, there will never come a day when all of God’s children will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: Free at last! Free at last!
