On 28 November COP17, The U.N Climate Change Summit started in Durban, South Africa. The aim was for countries to draft up policies that would guide local governments in their fight against climate change. As the summit progressed the city was overrun with influential figures, such as the President of South Africa.

However, despite all the hype, the public remained sceptical about the Summit and its purpose.

So we created a radio mini-series that depicts a future where countries go to war over a resource we all take for granted. The series aired on a Durban station.

MUSICSFX: MEN LAUGHING MIRIAM: It’s been four days living with the rebels. Life here is horrible, the men are rude and live like pigs. I want to escape, but I must find my son first. After finding out that he’s a boy, The General moved him to another group in the East. All groups are going to attack tonight, so I’ll see him soon.

VO:Victoria episode 4.SFX:EXPLOSIVES, GUNFIRE. SHOUTINGMIRIAM:AH!!! I’ve been hit, in the leg!

GENERAL:Stop! Stop firing, we are on your side you stupids! We are one of you!SFX:FOOTSTEPS GETTING CLOSERREBEL:Sorry, General, we did not see you. It was dark. We didn’t know who we were shooting at.GENERAL:Stupids! Look what you have done now!MIRIAM:Michael, is that you?MICHAEL:Ma, Mama you’ve been shot! MamaMIRIAM:(STRUGGLING TO BREATHE) It’s ok, I’ll be alright. I’ve been looking for you.MICHAEL:Oh Mama, I’m so sorry. It was dark and we didn’t know who we were shooting at!MIRIAM:It’s ok.It's ok. Now listen to me, I want you to get out of here and run, run away MICHAEL:I won’t leave you, I can’t leave you here!MIRIAM:Go!

MICHAEL:But now you’ve been shot!MIRIAM:Go. I will meet you later. And just like that we were reunited. I was happy. The rebels were also happy; we had been successful in securing a piece of Lake Victoria.
